ULB Polls In Odisha To Be held On March 24th, Counting On 26th: SEC

Bhubaneswar: The elections for the Urban Local Bodies in Odisha will be held on the 24th of March and the counting of votes will be held on the 26th of March. State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi has announced the poll schedule for the Urban elections today. Briefing the media today, the SEC said elections will be held for 106 ULBs of the state. While the formal notification for the elections will be issued on the 28th of February, the process for filing of nominations will start from 2nd March and complete by 7th March. The nominations will be verified till 9th March and candidates can withdraw nominations till 14th of March. For the first time, the State Election Commission has brought the option of NOTA in Urban polls in the state. The Model Code of Conduct has come into force from today.

Elections are going to be held for 59 NACs, 47 Municipalities and three Municipal Corporations in the state. Elections for Puri Municipality will not be held as the matter is in courts. About 41 lakh voters will cast their votes in the Urban polls.
