New Delhi: The continuing unrest in the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus here took ugly turn when a group of masked men attacked the students and some teaching staff in the evening.
JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh was left bleeding after the goons singled her out and beat up.

The masked men also damaged property inside the campus. While the injured students have been shifted ti the AIIMS, police is present in the campus and the situation remains tense.
General Secretary Satish Chandra was also injured, and some teachers had also been allegedly assaulted, according to media reports.
Meanwhile, the blame game has started on the brutal attack on the students. While the JNUSU in a statement said that ABVP members were behind the cowardly attack, the later has said leftist students attacked its members in the campus and hostels.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted about the JNU violence and said, “How will the country progress if our students will not be safe inside univ campus?”
Anil Baijal, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, condemned the attack against students and teachers in JNU campus and said that he had directed Delhi Police to coordinate with JNU Administration and maintain law and order.
Rahul Gandhi criticised the violence unleashed on students and teachers in JNU, saying that ” The fascists in control of our nation, are afraid of the voices of our brave students. Today’s violence in JNU is a reflection of that fear.”

CPM’s Sitaram Yechury alleged that there was a collusion between the administration and ABVP behind the attack on students and teachers. ”It is a planned attack by those in power, which is afraid of the resistance provided by JNU to its Hindutva agenda.”

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed surprise that that ”neither PM nor HM have condemned the violence happening on their watch,” adding that he had asked a delegation of All India Professionals’ Congress Delhi to rush to JNU immediately with a lawyer & attempt to intervene with the authorities.
