Virat Kohli Becomes First Indian to Score Century in Pink Ball Test, Breaks Ricky Ponting Record

Kolkata: Virat Kohli has become the first Indian to score a century in a Pink ball Test when he got to the 3-figure score on Day 2 against Bangladesh on Day 2 of the second test at Eden Gardens on Saturday.

This is 27th Test century of the Indian skipper and first in the historic pink-ball test.

Kohli, whose overnight score was 59 runs from 93 balls, took 66 balls more to reach the milestone.

With this, Kohli surpassed Ricky Ponting to grab 2nd place in the list of captains with the most Test hundreds.

Kohli now has 20 hundred as captain while former South Africa captain Graeme Smith leads the pack with 25 tons.
The Indian skipper also went past Steve Smith on the list of batsmen with most hundreds in Test cricket.

Kohli is now tied at the 17 spot alongside South Africa’s Graeme Smith and Australia’s Allan Border who also have 27 Test hundreds.

With 41 international hundreds as captain, Kohli also equalled Ricky Ponting record of most number of centuries as a skipper across all formats.
