Bhubaneswar: The parents of Mamita Meher have appealed all not to politicize the death of their daughter and requested everyone to refrain from character assassination of their daughter Mamita. In a video message issued, Mamita’s father Suchandra has said that I have full faith that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will give us justice. We are satisfied with the investigations by the police. My daughter was a good person and she never went to Raipur with murderer Gobinda Sahu. Our family is going through difficult times. I request all political parties not to do politics with the death of my daughter, they said in the video. They also requested the media not to publish or telecast false and fabricated news about Mamita Meher for their own purposes, indicating that a certain section of the media is indulging in character assassination of their daughter.
The video from the parents comes amidst when various political parties including the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party are indulging in character assignation of Mamita and doing pity politics over the loss of the innocent life. Some political leaders have also made false assumptions and allegations regarding Mamita which has hurt the family very hard. While the police is investigating the case on a priority basis and the main accused Gobinda sahu has been arrested along with others, the opposition parties are taking mileage in the name of law and order issues and free and fair investigation. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given a free hand to the investigating agencies and there is no pressure from any quarter. In the name of protests, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress are hurting the sentiments of the Meher family and are causing much mental agony. Due to continuous call of Bandhs in various districts, people are facing much difficulties.
This is not the first time that the parents of Mamita have reporsed faith in the investigations. Earlier also thay had said that they are satisfied with the police investigations.
The video message shows in how much mental agony the parents of Mamita Meher are going through and the unnecessary character assignation by various quarters including a certain section of the media and opposition political parties. The opposition political parties have made it their main issue to visit the Meher family in the name of consolation and indulging in photo sessions for their own benefits. The village has become a political destination for the opposition to garner political mileage.
