5T Mantra: CESU Announces Cash Reward for Power Theft Information

Bhubaneswar: In bid to arrest pilferage of electricity, Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) on Thursday has come up with an innovative approach announcing cash reward for providing information about power theft.

Speaking to media, CESU chief executive officer (CEO) and IG, Arun Bothra said any person informing about power theft in his/her area will receive a cash reward of 10 per cent of the fines to be collected from the erring consumers.

CECU will keep the name of the informant secret, he said while adding that drives against power pilferage will be intensified.

The SHG groups will be engaged in collecting bill and nonpayment activities,  he said.

He further said that social media platform will be used extensively for receiving compliant from consumers.
