5th COVID-19 Patient Has No Travel History, Govt Issues Public Notice for Home Quarantine

Bhubaneswar: The fifth positive case of COVID-19 detected in Bhubaneswar does not have any recent travel history neither to any foreign country nor to any part of the country, said BMC commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary today.

He further said that with prescribed procedure of contact tracing it seems impossible to establish and identify all contacts and to check the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19.

It is essential in the public interest to know the possible contacts of the detected cases where there is no travel history and to find out all the people who could have been potentially infected by such positive cases. So keeping in view of larger public interest and with a view to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to strike a balance between the privacy of the positive cases and the larger public interest, Chaudhary, who is also the Empowered officer revealed the details of the 5th COVID-19 patient to check the further spread of the highly contagious COViD-19.

In a notification, Chaudhary stated the name of Pradipta Kumar Dalabehera, Plot No 37, Unit -07. Ward No 46. Surya Nagar, Bhubaneswar is hereby published with an intention to safeguard the public who have come in contact with him since 01-03-2020.

The BMC Commissioner has also urged those people who have been in contact with him shall keep themselves to home quarantine forthwith for 14 days from the date of contact and inform/register about such quarantine in the helpline No 104.

“No member of the public shall indulge in commission or omission of any Act of social discrimination, directly or indirectly against Dalabehera and his family members”, stated BMC Commissioner in a public notice.
He also warned that any violation of the same shall be punishable under section 188 IPC and the relevant provision of Epidemic Disease Act 1897.
