Naveen Discusses with Tamil Nadu CM on Safe Return of Stranded Odia People

Bhubaneswar: Continuing his efforts to ensure safe return of stranded Odia people across the country to their home State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today discussed with his Tamil Nadu counterpart Edappadi K. Palaniswami regarding the safe return of the Odias stranded in the southern state in the wake of nationwide COVID-19 lockdown.

In a video conference with Palaniswami, the Odisha CM discussed a range of issues pertaining to stranded migrant workers, students, pilgrims, tourists and other people from Odisha in Tamil Nadu.

Naveen requested the Tamil Nadu CM to arrange for safe return of Odia people to their home State.

Naveen also talked to stranded Odia people, who are staying at a shelter camp at Guru Nanak College in Chennai, through video conferencing. He thanked the Tamil Nadu CM for taking care of Odia people.

Palaniswami also assured the Odisha CM that the Tamil Nadu government will take necessary steps for the safe return of stranded people to their home State.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan joined the discussion.

Earlier, Naveen held similar discussions with Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani and Maharashtra CM, Uddhav Thackeray.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Government has appointed senior officers to co-ordinate with different States where people from Odisha have been stranded.
