PM Announces Rs 1000 Cr. for WB After Conducting an Aerial Survey, To Review Post Cyclone Situation in Odisha

Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced an interim financial assitance of Rs 1,000 crore for West Bengal to aid the relief and rehabilitation efforts after conducting an aerial survey

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi today took an aerial survey of cyclone devastated areas of West Bengal and took stock of the situation. He was received by Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at the airport. The Chief Minister and Governor accompanied Prime Minister Modi’s aerial survey.

Cyclone Amphan had devastated many parts of the state including extensive damage in Kolkata. While the death toll has rised to more than 80 in the state, thousands of homes have been damaged, and trees and electric poles uprooted. The state government has estimated a loss of one lakh crore to the state due to the cyclone Amphan.

After Bengal, Modi will take an aerial survey of Odisha, which has also experienced damage in five coastal districts and widespread devastation including damaging power and telecom infrastructure.
