Fighting COVID-19: Odisha CM Announces Rs 5 Crore Each to Jajpur and Sundargarh Districts

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Rs 5 crore each to Jajpur and Sundargarh districts to fight against Coronavirus following a review of the situation through video conferencing.

Patnaik also appealed to all the community organizations and Corporates in the Jajpur and Sundargarh districts to set up Covid Care Homes (CCH) and Covid Care Centres (CCC) and join the fight against Covid-19.
Other major highlights of CM’s announcement.

Jajpur District:

1. I appreciate the Jajpur district team for achieving a high recovery rate of 86.5%. The situation is under control in spite of more than 26000 migrants coming back to the district.
2. The district will be spending Rs 13.5 crores from DMF in enhancing the Covid Care system to fight the pandemic.
3. Additional 250 beds will be operationalised in the Covid Care Centre in Jajpur.
4. The district will create partnerships with Corporates and Industry for establishing Covid Care Homes and Covid Care centres.
5. Rs 5 crore is sanctioned from the Chief Minister Relief Fund to Jajpur district.

Sundargarh District (Rourkela):

1. I appreciate the Sundargarh District team for achieving a high recovery rate of 85%.
2. Plasma bank will be started in IGH, Rourkela and it will supply to various districts in Western Odisha.
3. The District has already spent Rs 20 crores from DMF for Covid Management. Further, Rs 15 crore will be spent in the next three months for strengthening of Dedicated Covid Hospital and Covid Care centres.
4. The Covid Care Centre in Rourkela will be expanded from 700 beds to 1700 beds capacity.
5. I am glad to know that the district administration is working closely with Corporates like RSP, NTPC, MCL, OCL etc for creating Covid Care Homes and Covid Care Centres.
6. In Rourkela, the focus shall be on surveillance, door-to-door survey, testing and containment zones. Special attention to be given to slum areas and congested localities.
7. Rs 5 crore is sanctioned from the Chief Minister Relief Fund to Sundargarh district.
