Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi today, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik highlighted the significance of Gandhian philosophy of Ahimsa or nonviolence and said that it is the solution to all problems in the society.
Speaking at the ‘Gandhi and National Integration’ programme, the Chief Minister said that Bapuji was not a political personality, rather he was a great saint and social reformer.
Gandhiji’s mesmerizing personality had untied the country. He was indeed the true symbol of all case, creed, language, religion and national integration, Naveen said.
The Chief Minister said that he has been demanding inclusion of Ahimsa in the Preamble of the Constitution and a signature campaign has also been started supporting the suggestion.
Naveen thanked people for the campaign.
“All the problems of the contemporary society will be solved if we follow the Gandhian principle of non-violence”, the Chief Minister said.
The Gandhian philosophies and ideologies will always remain relevant for the mankind, he added.
Freedom of the country was not the only goal of Mahatma Gandhi, he also wanted to build a strong and empowered India, which would be free from Poverty, violence, injustice and inequality, Naveen added.
