Bhubaneswar: BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi has set a very bad example before the people of Odisha by repeatedly flaunting the COVID-19 guidelines of the government, alleged the ruling Biju Janata Dal.
The Bhubaneswar MP, who had earlier faced criticism from various quarters after pictures of her with party workers having a gathering without following social distancing norms surfaced on social media, has once again courted controversy by defying social distancing norms on Monday.
Sarangi along with other BJP leaders and party workers allegedly flaunted the social distancing guidelines at a foundation stone laying ceremony in the State capital.
Sarangi today laid the foundation stone for a flyover at Hanspal here on Monday in the presence of several BJP leaders and party workers without following the Covid-19 social distancing norms of the government.
Strongly condemning the incident, BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sasmit Patra said, “It is really very unfortunate to see a peoples’ elected representative is repeatedly disregarding COVID-19 guidelines whereas 4.5 crore people of Odisha are sincerely following it keeping the requests of both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister”.
“It sets a bad example before the people”, Patra said while suggesting the BJP leader to follow the COVID-19 guidelines.
