Bhubaneswar: In one of the biggest seizures of narcotics in the state, the Special Task Force personnel of Odisha Police have seized 3.28 Kilograms of Brown Sugar from NH-16, Kuliana, Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.
The approximate value of the contraband is more than three crores. One person has also been arrested in this connection by the STF.
In the last few months Odisha Police has been actively perusing against drug traffickers and in the last one year the STF has seized 15.648 KGs Brown Sugar.
About 40 persons involved in the drugs trafficking crime have been arrested from various districts. Between 2013 and 2019 about 7 KGs of Brown Sugar was seized. Today’s seizure has been possible due to the inputs received from the Crime Branch. In a press briefing, Crime Branch ADG Soumendra Priyadarshi has said that the efforts of the STF will continue in the coming days.
