BJD Demands to Rename Paradip Port after Former Odisha CM Biju Patnaik

New Delhi: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today demanded the Centre to rename the Paradip Port after legendary freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of Odisha late Biju Patnaik.

BJD MP Prasanna Acharya has given a zero hour notice in the Rajya Sabha to raise the demand for renaming of the port after former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.

Former Odisha CM Biju Patnaik is the founder father of Paradip Port, which is one of the eight major ports of India.

Situated in Jagatsinghpur district, the port has handled 25.73 million tonnes of cargo during the first quarter of the current fiscal, the highest among major ports in the country.
