Bhubaneswar: With day time temperatures slowly rising in most of the districts of Odisha and nine places recording 35 degrees celsius or more, the state government has swung into action. Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena has written a letter to all District Collectors to take precautionary measures to tackle the heat wave conditions in the coming months.

In the letter to the officials, the SRC states that a Heat Wave Action Plan has been developed by OSDMA delineating the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Afferent Departments, District Administrations and others to mitigate the heat wave situations and shared with all Departments and Districts for implementation.
“Since the summer season is fast approaching, I would request you to take immediate steps to put in place all preparedness and precaution, measures at different levels in your district to meet the possible heat wave situations.” Some of the salient measures to be taken are indicated below:
