New Delhi: The Centre on Tuesday sanctioned additional financial assistance of Rs 3338.22 crore for cyclone Fani-hit Odisha.
The High Level Committee (HLC) chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi approved the additional central assistance to Odisha, where the natural disaster left trail of destruction this year.
The HLC also approved the assistance from National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
Besides Odisha, the Centre also sanctioned additional financial assistance to two other disaster-hit states – Karnataka (Rs 1029.39 crore) and Himachal Pradesh (Rs 64.69 crore).
This additional assistance is over and above the funds released by Centre to the states in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) already placed at the disposal of states, sources said.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Odisha on May 6 and announced an immediate assistance of Rs 1000 crore to the State.
