CM Thanks Doctors Who Successfully Conducted First Cadaveric Transplantation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today thanked the doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack and Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar, who successfully conducted the first cadaveric transplantation in Odisha to save two valuable lives.

Appreciating the efforts of the doctors at a function at Lok Seva Bhawan here, the Chief Minister said that the cadaveric transplantation is a milestone in the healthcare services in the State.

He also described the cadaveric transplantation as one of the finest examples of application 5-T.

The CM further said that the State Government will provide all necessary supports for the organ transplantation and stressed the need to create awareness among people on organ donation.

5T Secretary VK Pandian also thanked the doctors and said the organ donation of a deceased is a noble act.

In order to ensure timely transplantation of organ to save one’s life, helicopter facility will also be provided for this purpose if it is required, he added.

Notably, the kidneys of 22-year-old brain dead Priyankarani Patra of Ganjam district were successfully transplanted on two patients by the doctors last week.
