Fighting COVID-19: Puri Admin to Restrict People Entering Dist via Sea-Route

Puri: As part of the preventive measures to combat the COVID-19, the Puri district administration has decided to restrict people entering the district via sea-route.

This has been informed by Puri Collector Balwant Singh.

Since the district has a coastal length of 140 km, it is therefore important to keep a close eye on the people taking sea-route to enter the district amid the lockdown, he said.

The decision comes a day after at least 10 Odia labourers who were stranded in Chennai opted for the sea route to reach the State.

The district administration has urged the officials of fishery department, leaders of fishery community and police to remain alert in this regard.

Besides, the administration has also prohibited fishing within the territorial waters along the entire coastline by all the fishing vessels except traditional fishing crafts (up to 8.5 mtrs.) with or without engine.
