Berhampur: A Naib Sarpanch along with ten others of Mardarajpur of J Dengapadar Panchayat under Polasara block in Ganjam have been arrested for allegedly organising an inauguration function of Lord Hanuman temple defying all Covid-19 guidelines.

Panchayati Raj Department has also suspended the Naib Sarpanch for his alleged role in organizing the function. He is stated to be the ring leader in organizing the event.
According to reports, on July 6, villagers of Mardarajpur of J Dengapadar Panchayat under Polasara block organized an inauguration function of Lord Hanuman temple defying all Covid-19 guidelines.
The visuals of the same had gone viral in the social media showing huge congregation of over 500 people.
At a time when Ganjam district tops the Coronavirus table and the district administration is making all out efforts to curb the virus, a religious function of such magnitude draw the criticism from all quarters.
