Berhampur: More than 1,000 villages in Odisha’s Ganjam district have been declared child marriage free.
The District Social Welfare Office (DSWO), Ganjam informed that 1032 villages and 140 wards in urban areas in the district have become child marriage free.
The villages and wards have been declared child marriage free after verified by the block development officers and child marriage prohibition officers of the district administration.
Recently, the Odisha Government has urged the district administrations to take appropriate measures for the prevention of child marriage and empowerment of adolescents.
The Government has set the target to make the State child marriage free by 2030.
