Ganjam: School Teachers Distribute Textbooks at Doorsteps of Students amid COVID-19 Lockdown

Berhampur: In order to help students continue with their studies during the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, the Ganjam district administration is distributing textbooks at the doorsteps of the students of the state-run schools with the help of teachers.

Under the instructions of School and Mass Education department and Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, the teachers have been engaged in all 22 blocks for distribution of school books for the students of Class I to VIII. 

According to the District Project Office (SSA), the books will be distributed at the doorsteps of around 3.35 lakh students of nearly 2032 primary and 944 upper primary schools in the district for the 2020-21 academic session.

The School and Mass Education Department has supplied as many as 1,72,7077 books of different subjects to all block points, informed an official while adding that the district will receive rest 1, 50,181 books soon.

Earlier, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange urged the Block Education Officers (BEOs) to ensure that social distance must be maintained at the time of distribution of books and social gathering must be avoided at the time of counting and sorting of books in order to combat the COVID-19.

According to Ganjam District Education Officer (DEO) Amulya Padhan, approximately 75% books have been distributed except BeMC areas.

The task will be completed over the next five days in all blocks except BeMC areas as the teachers have been assigned other COVID-19 related works, he said.
