Berhampur: In yet another inspiring story of octogenarian beating COVID-19 in Odisha, an 85-year-old patient from Ganjam district successfully fought the battle against the coronavirus.
Abhimanyu Sahu of Dakhinpur GP of Kukudakhandi block has defeated the virus after five days ordeal. He has been discharged from hospital and is now in home quarantine. He is perfectly fine now.
Expressing happiness over the development, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the Sahu’s recovery from the COVID-19 at the age of 85 is really a good news for the entire State.
The strong morale and courage Sahu exhibited at this age is truly inspiring to all, the CM said.
85-year-old Sahu, whose children are staying outside and could not reach home due to lockdown, had contacted to the local Anganwadi workers after he developed COVID-19 symptoms. His samples were tested on July 10 and report came positive on July 16. He was admitted to the COVID hospital at Sitalpali.
The octogenarian recovered from the infection after undergoing treatment and was discharged from hospital on July 20.
The BDO and medical officer visited Sahu at his home to look after his health condition. He is keeping well, informed Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
Earlier, the octogenarians from Kandhamal, Balangir and Kendrapara districts had won their battle against the Coronavirus, giving much-needed morale boost to those who are currently the virus.
