Berhampur: Ajit Kumar Sethy, Head Master at Government Upper Primary School, Kanamana, Chatrapur has been conferred with the National Teachers Day Award for this year by President Ramnath Kovind. He uses Information Communication Technology interventions and music to make the teaching more innovative and exciting. He remains the ideal for his students.
He joined the government school at Kanamana, Odisha, and was disappointed with the lack of basic facilities, infrastructure and amenities such as electricity. He determined to do his best and started teaching in his own style.
He toiled to improve the infrastructure with addition of new classrooms and other facilities. His efforts resulted in the school today having a nutrition garden, RO water facility and separate toilets for boys and girls.
The number of students in the school increased from a mere fifty in 2017 to more than hundred this year. His composition of songs as part of the teaching process makes the learning joyful for the students.
