Bhubaneswar: Continuing the process of transformation of the healthcare services in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a slew of packages for six districts under the Mo Sarkar initiative. This comes days after the visit by senior officials of the Government of Odisha to the hospitals for review of the health infrastructure.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the new initiatives for the hospitals of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Anugul, Kendrapada, Bolangir and Sonepur. According to a release from the CMO, fifteen lakh rupees will be granted to the District Headquarter Hospital Rogi Kalyana Samitis (Patient Welfare Committee) of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Anugul, Kendrapada and Sonepur. The Patient Welfare Committee of the Bhima Bhoi Medical College Hospital Bolangir will also be given 15 Lakh for infrastructure development. The funds will be given from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. In addition to this, the Superintendents of Police of these districts will be given 10 Lakhs each for encouraging the activities related to Blood Donation. It has also been decided to construct rest sheds in all these hospitals for the attendants of the patients.
Another important decision taken is to add 50 more beds to the District Headquarter Hospital in Sambalpur and construction of a casualty and Outdoor building. All these hospitals will be provided new buildings for separate ward for Mothers. In order to further improve the facilities, the government has also decided to upgrade the pathological laboratories in these hospitals. Dialysis and ICU’s will be set up in each of these hospitals.
The government has also decided to develop Sambalpur District Hospital as a Satellite center of the VIMSAR Medical College in order to further develop the healthcare system.
Deogarh District hospital strength will be increased from the present 60 beds to 200 beds. Likewise, the bed strength of Anugul District Headquarter Hospital will also increased to 300 from the present 192. A new medical building will also be constructed in the DHH Campus. the government has also decided to strengthen the dialysis and ICU units and additional ECG machine will be provided.
In Kendrapada, the government has decided to increase the bed numbers from 175 presently to 200 in the coming days. Along with this, a modern OPD and new Staff Quarters will also be constructed in Kendrapada. Two additional ambulances and one Mahaprayana vehicle will also be provided to it.
The construction of the new seven storied District Headquarter hospital in Sonepur will begin in one month’s time. Various infrastructure of the existing DHH of Sonepur will be improved with the addition of new Ultrasound, Bilirubinimeter, Semi Auto Analyser, Multi Para Monitor and CBC Machine.
Further, it has been decided that the construction of the new Academic and Hospital Buildings of the Bolangir Santha Bhima Bhoi Medical College will be completed within 24 months.
The government of Odisha has been pushing for infrastructure development of the healthcare facilities of the state in a big way and has implemented the path breaking Mo Sarkar initiative in all the hospitals. The initiative intends to drastically improve the healthcare infrastructure and provide the common people state of the art health facilities without any obstacle. As part of the 5T initiative, senior officials of the government are reviewing the transformation in regular intervals. Teams of bureaucrats including Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, Development Commissioner Suresh Mohapatra, Health Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda, NHM Mission Director Shalini Pandit, 5T Secretary V K Pandian and others are visiting the various hospitals to review the health delivery mechanism. Launched from October 2nd, the initiative has been welcomed by the people and transformation is being witnessed in the ground.
