Berhampur: In one-of-a-kind success story that is going to change our perception towards people with HIV, Padma and Rabindra, the two inmates of Sraddha Sanjeevani today tied the nuptial knot. What is special in the event is Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik blessed the couple and wished them very best for their married life. The couple, brought up in Sraddha Sanjeevani, a Child Care Home in Gopalpur, Ganjam, today are happily married.
In their mid-twenties, Padma and Rabindra are presently working in Hyderabad and came to Sraddha Sanjeevani, their childhood home, for the marriage function. The wedding function was attended virtually by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, 5T Secretary V K Pandian and other dignitaries. As chairman of the Care Home, Collector Ganjam Vijay Amrut Kulange performed the Kanyadaan. Ganjam PD DRDA Shinde Dattatraya Bhausaheb, Dr. Siddeshwar Baliram Bondar, BeMC Commissioner and other senior officials along with local people were also present at the Child Care Home to bless the newly wedded couple.
Shraddha Sanjivani Child Care Home (SSCCH), a brain child of 5T Secretary V K Pandian when he was the Collector of Ganjam, was set up in 2007. It gives HIV infected orphans and vulnerable children a new lease of life. Pandian, who is always having a soft corner towards the children of Shraddha Sanjivani often makes visit to the Home and interacts with the inmates. As the children of SSCCH are of special category and need special attention, the 5T Secretary has urged the district administration to focus on four major areas – education, health, nutrition and livelihood – for the development of children. Sraddha Sanjeevani today acts as an alternative family for the HIV infected orphans and vulnerable children offering proper healthcare. It also enables children to get proper education and develop technical skills.
The happy couple thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for all the support and motivation said that they will encourage others also to follow this and bring a positive change in the society. Speaking on the marriage, Lokanath Mishra, founder member of Sraddha Sanjeevani, said that “We are very thankful to our Chief Minister as he has been kind enough to support us always. Our organisation also owes a lot to V K Pandian Sir for his constant efforts help the inmates of Sraddha Sanjeevani. This event is an unique and historical one. It is giving the society a message and will encourage others also.”
