Naveen Urges PM Modi to Take Steps to Bring Back Stranded Odias from Gulf Countries

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take steps to bring back stranded Odias from Gulf countries.

“Still there are some people from Odisha stranded in Gulf Countries. The Centre should take steps to bring them back as most of them are engaged in low paying jobs”, Naveen said.

During a video conference with the Prime Minister and the Chief Ministers of other States, Naveen said that the Centre should continue restrictions on train and air travel to Odisha.

He said, “June is the toughest month for Odisha because large number of migrants have returned and monsoon has also started. Hence Govt. of India should continue restrictions on train and air travel to Odisha”.

The Odisha CM also made several other important suggestions during the discussion.

The CM said that National Level Entrance Examinations should be conducted only after Sate Level +2 examinations are completed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held the second part of two-day interaction with 15 Chief Ministers via video conferencing to discuss the situation post Unlock 1.0 and plan for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Besides the Odisha CM, the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana participated in the discussion.
