Nitish Talks to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, Seeks BJD Support for RS Deputy Chairman Post

Bhubaneswar: Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) President Nitish Kumar today talked to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requesting him for BJD’s support in an election to the deputy chairperson of Rajya Sabha scheduled on September 14.

Nitish has requested Odisha Chief Minister for Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) support for JD (U) candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh, who has filed nominations for Rajya Sabha deputy chairman post as NDA nominee.

The Monsoon session of the Parliament is starting from September 14 and election for the post of deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha is slated to take place.

The post was lying vacant after Harivansh’s term ended. He has since been re-elected to the Upper House as a member from Bihar.
