Bhubaneswar: Around 80 percent of patients out of the total COVID-19 cases in Odisha were asymptomatic, said NHM Director Shalini Pandit on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference here, she said that only two out of 37 active cases need hospital care and a total of 12 persons in Odisha have recovered from COVID-19.
The rest 35 persons are likely to be discharged soon as they are asymptomatic, she added.
The NHM Director stressed the need for mass testing in villages and towns to detect coronavirus.
The early detection of the deadly disease will help in early treatment, she added.
People above 60 years of age come under the risk group of coronavirus. Only 8 percent of the cases in Odisha are above 60 years of age, she further said.
Odisha has reported 50 positive cases for the deadly virus so far.
The need of the hour is social distancing and isolation, Pandit said and added that lockdown is helpful in keeping the risk group of people safe.
The COVID-19 testing is underway at all the 30 districts of Odisha. The doctors, nurses, paramedics, ASHA workers, ANMs and members of NHM are working round the clock to make Odisha safe, Pandit added.
