Odisha CM Appeals Odias to Sing ‘Bande Utkala Janani’ on May 30 as Mark of Respect to COVID-19 Warriors

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today appealed to the people to sing ‘Bande Utkala Janani’, the anthem of Odisha at 5.30 PM on May 30 to pay respect to COVID-19 warriors in the State.

In a video message, the CM “I am requesting 4.5 crore Odias, to wherever they may be across the globe, to sing the “Vande Utkal Janani” song maintaining social distancing norm. This will inspire our COVID-19 warriors.”

The CM said, “For the last two months, the entire world has been passing through a very critical situation. At the time when the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading its tentacles across the world -devastating many of the powerful and rich nations ,Odisha started its war against Covid. Our only priority then was to save our people. The single most important thing for me was to save every precious life. All our initiatives and policies were directed towards this end. Now it has been more than two months . Odisha’s efforts have been recognised at all levels”.

Lauding the COVID-19 warriors and all the functionaries, Naveen said that Odisha has set example not only in India but in the world for achieving maximum recovery rate.

The Covid mortality rate in Odisha is one of the lowest in the country and in the world. Besides, more than fifty percent of the infected people have recovered and gone home. It’s indeed a major achievement for a state like Odisha and its people, he said.

The CM said, “Powerful nations of the world, rich states of our country have not been able to achieve this feat in the fight against Covid. It’s also in these two months Odias have returned from abroad, they have come from other states, lakhs of Odia labourers have returned home. We have been able to manage each new phase effectively. The credit goes to our Covid warriors who have been working day and night, with sacrifice and commitment” .

Earlier on the day, Naveen also spoke to the Sarpanchs, Asha and Anganwadi workers who were detected corona positive while serving the people.

Naveen spoke to them over telephone and appreciated their dedication towards the fight against COVID-19.

The Chief Minister praised their courage and dedication in providing outstanding service to society and wished their speedy recovery.

They will be a source of inspiration to others, the CM said.
