Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his happiness over the State’s milestone in conducting more than one lakh COVID-19 tests in short time.
Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, Odisha has ramped up its COVID-19 tests to contain the spread of the virus.
As on May 19, the State has conducted over lakh tests with installation of modern testing labs and machines in various districts.
The Odisha CM took to Twitter to express his happiness over the achievement.
“Glad to share that we have crossed 1 lakh #COVID19 test milestone. Thank everyone who worked expeditiously to scale up testing facilities in such a short time and also those working to ensure logistics”, Naveen tweeted.

Testing in the state started on March 21st when 60 swab samples were tested out of which two were tested positive for the infectious disease. Now, the number of such tests have reached 1,00,302 of which 978 have been tested positive, according to the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The Odisha Government is targeting to increase the testing capacity to 15,000 samples per day.
