Odisha Govt Suspends Inter-State Bus Services to Curb COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: In yet another major step to curb the spreading of deadly Coronavirus, the Odisha Government today suspended inter-state bus services until further orders.

“It is ordered to suspend all inter-State bus services. Inter-State buses coming from other States will not be allowed to reach their destination in Odisha after 11 am on March 23 (Monday),” said Transport Commissioner-cum-State Transport Authority Chairman in a letter to all the Regional Transport Officers (RTOs).

“Novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has become pandemic and the whole world is affected by the deadly virus. There is no specific treatment or vaccine till now for COVID-19 and only precaution of the highest degree is required to decelerate the spread of COVID-19,” it stated.

Similarly, no inter-state bus will be allowed to operate to other States from Odisha after 11 am on Monday. The Inter-State bus operation to and from Odisha will remain suspended till further orders, it added.

So far Odisha has reported two confirmed cases of Coronavirus.
