Bhubaneswar: DG Abhay has once again reiterated that the Odisha police is determined to drive away the Maoists from the Swabhiman Anchal and called upon the rebels to shun violence and join the mainstream. DGP Abhay was briefing the media today after two hard core Maoists were killed in the wee hours today by the forces. Director Intelligence R K Sharma and I G Operations Amitabh Tahakur were also present during the briefing.
Early morning today between 3 30 am to 4 am, forces including from the CRPF, BSF and Odisha Police officers and Jawans, who were patrolling in the maoist affected areas near Singaram in the cut off area, were fired upon by the Maoists. In a fitting retaliation, the security forces were successful in countering the Maoists. While the Maoists ran away under the guise of darkness, the SOG team recovered two dead bodies from the area in the morning and one of which has been identified as belonging to B Ramesh and the other of a female cadre. Huge cache of arms and other incriminating materials have been recovered from the area.
The DG once again called upon the Maoists to shun violence and join the mainstream.
