Odisha to Launch Massive Door to Door Surveillance of Persons Having Covid-19 Symptoms from Tuesday

Bhubaneswar: In a major step to curb the Coronavirus, Odisha Government has decided to go for door-to-door surveillance of persons having   COVID-19 like  symptoms in all households in rural areas and slums in urban areas across the State from June 16 to July 31.

Addressing a schedule press briefing, National Health Mission Director Shalini Pandit said, Odisha is a model state in fight against Covid-19 in the country. The State Government has decided to do COVID-19 test  to all persons having coronavirus  symptoms. As part of this exercise,  ASHA and ANM workers will do door to door  surveillance to find out the persons” she said.

As per the ICMR latest guidelines,  Odisha Government is testing symptomatic persons and close contacts of positive cases, she added.

The Odisha Government has so far completed  2 lakh tests. Tests per million in the state is higher than national average.

Similarly, the positivity rate per lakh is 9.3 per cent and the death rate (0.03 per cent) is very low in Odisha while the recovery rate is 67 per cent.
