Odisha Transport Min Slams Centre for Slashing Rail Budget for State

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Transport Minister Padmanav Behera today slammed the Centre for slashing budgetary allocation towards railway sector for the State.

Odisha has been allocated Rs 4,373 crore for different railway projects in the Union Budget for the 2020-21 fiscal. The allocation is around 27 per cent less than that of last fiscal when the State had received whopping Rs 5,993 crore.

Expressing disappointment, Behera said, “The centre has slashed Rail budget for Odisha. It is much less than what we were expecting, in fact it is around 27 per cent less than previous year.”
Discussion in this connection would be held with Prime Minister and Railway Minister.

The CM will hold talks with Prime Minister over budgetary allocation towards rail for Odisha, he added.
