Odisha: Weekend Shutdown to Continue in 10 Districts

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to continue weekend shutdown in Zone -1 consisting of 10 districts where the COVID-19 active cases are more than 50.

Briefing the media, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said the weekend shutdown will continue in 10 districts (identified as zone-1) till July 31.

The districts are Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda.

In Zone 1, the local authorities have been empowered to stop intra-district vehicular movements, close shops and offices depending on the situation, he said.

He further said that the night curfew timing has been relaxed from 9PM to 5AM instead of 7PM to 5AM in order to boost economic activities outside the containment zones.

The schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed till August 31, the Chief Secretary added.

He also said that the State Government has decided to form Covid management committees in 50,000 villages across the State to contain the spread of the virus.
