Odisha’s OAVs are Top 5 Government School in Country

Bhubaneswar: Bringing laurels to the State, the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) at Hatiota in Ganjam district and Patharchepa in Balangir district have emerged as the top 5th Government Schools in the country in All India School Rankings 2020.

While OAV at Hatiota in Ganjam district has secured 5th rank in the Government Day School category, OAV Patharchepa in Balangir district has figured in 5th rank as well in the Government boarding school category in the county.

OAV is a brain-child scheme of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for providing quality English medium CBSE Schools at each block of the State.

Patnaik congratulated the students, faculty and officials of two OAVs for achive the feat.

In a tweet, Patnaik wrote, “Congratulate students, faculty & @OAVS_Official as OAV Hatiota, Ganjam & OAV Patharchepa, Balangir have emerged as top Govt Schools in the All India School Rankings 2020. Glad that our mission to empower every child with power of education brings laurels at national level.”

The Survey

The EWISR survey 2021 was conducted by education magazine EducationWorld A sample respondents database of 11,368 individuals was constituted including school principals, teachers, educationists, fee-paying parents in SEC (socio-economic category) ‘A’, and senior school students in 28 major cities and education hubs across India.

The sample respondents were asked to rate India’s 2,000 most well-known primary and secondary schools on 14 parameters of education excellence. The 14 parameters of education excellence on which the schools were ranked were:

· Competence of Faculty
· Individual Attention to Students
· Leadership/ Management Quality
· Curriculum and pedagogy (digital readiness)
· Co-curricular Education
· Safety and Hygiene
· Community Service
· Internationalism
· Parental Involvement
· Teacher Welfare and Development
· Value for Money
· Sports Education
· Infrastructure Provision
