Odisha’s Test Per Million Better Than National Average, Crosses 50k Swab Tests

Bhubaneswar: In yet another feat, Odisha tested over 50,000 swab samples till yesterday, said National Health Mission (NHM) state Director Shalini Pandit here today.

Briefing the media, she said, “Initially we used to test only 10 swab per day, but now we are doing it up to 3000 tests per every day”.

The total number of tests touched 50,514 yesterday, she added.

In a bid to enhance testing capacity, the Odisha Government is planning to set up 11 more laboratories at various places across the State, she added.

Highlighting yet another feat, the NHM Director said that the tests per million population in Odisha is also better than national average.

While the test per million stood at 1155 in Odisha, the same stands at 983 for the nation as on May 7, she informed.
