Rahul Gandhi Appeals Cong Workers in Odisha, West Bengal to Help People

New Delhi: As cyclone Amphan is likely to wreak havoc in coastal regions of Odisha and West Bengal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today appealed to the party workers in both the States to help the people in reaching the safer places.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi urged the party workers to alert the people of threat posed by the cyclone Amphan and help them reach safer places.

According to the IMD, the cyclone Amphan will be ‘extremely severe cyclonic storm’ when it makes landfall on May 20.

Amphan is the most intense cyclone and the second super cyclone which has been formed in the Bay of Bengal after 1999, said IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.

As many as 15 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are deployed in Odisha for carrying out awareness drives, communication drives, and evacuation. Similarly, 19 teams are deployed in West Bengal, 2 in standby there.
