Say No to ‘Bhai’, Maintain Decorum in Office: Govt to Officials

Bhubaneswar: Now calling a senior ‘Bhai’ by subordinates during office hours will not be permitted in government offices.

An order has been issued by the Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in this regard.

The Directorate has asked its official to maintain proper decorum.

The junior officials have been directed to be careful for maintaining official decorum on office premises during duty hours in dealing with or addressing the superiors.

The junior level officers and field offices are not maintaining official decorum in dealing with their superiors, even in presence of Higher Authority, the notification said.

The technical officers are calling ‘Bhai’ to their senior officers like sub-divisional veterinary officers/chief district veterinary officer and joint directors.

It is not proper in part of any of the government servant to address to their higher authority in this way, whatever personal relation they are having among them during office hours or office premises, which leads to not only violation of Odisha Government Servant Conduct Rules, 1959, but also amounts to insubordination, the notification added.

The authorities also warned to take disciplinary action against the erring officials as per the rules.

“Any deviation in this matter will be viewed seriously and stringent disciplinary action as deemed proper will be initiated against the defaulting officer under Odisha Government Servant Conduct Rules,” the notification added.
