Senior Police Officials Head To Kandhamal as Anti Maoist Operations Intensify

Bhubaneswar: Odisha police DG Abhay and other senior officials including Director Intelligence R K Sharma, IGP Operations Amitabh Thakur, DIGP SIW Anirudh Singh and DIGP Intelligence Anup Sahoo, are on the way to Kandhamal to take stock of the situation after two hard core Maoists were killed yesterday and the forces have intensified combing operations in the Tumudibandha forest area.

A high level meeting of the top police brass along with Southern Range DIG Satyabrata Bhoi and Kandhamal SP Vinit Agarwal is scheduled today to discuss various issues related to the recent developments.

At present, the SOG and DVF jawans have intensified the search operations in Sirla forest area under Tumudibandha in Kandhamal District. The jawans have recovered two rifles in the ongoing combing operation.

Yesterday, forces involved inanti-maoist operations that included Special Operations Group (SOG) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) had came under fire and retaliated in which two Maoists were killed.In the last fifteen days, five Maoists including two women have been killed in separate encounters with the forces in Kandhamal district’s in Sirla forest.
