Sambalpur: Ten sluice gates of Hirakud dam have been closed in a phased manner today.
Currently, the water outflow from the reservoir is higher than the inflow, said the dam authorities.
The floodwater is being released through 10 sluice gates of the dam.
The water level at the reservoir touched 620.45 ft against the storage capacity of 630 ft by 11.00 am.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Government has ruled out the possibility of the major flood situation in the State as the quantum of rainfall has decreased in past 24 hours.
All the rivers are flowing below the danger marks, according to an official.
As many as 20 sluice gates were opened to release the excess floodwater on Thursday.
