Travellers Coming from Foreign Countries to Undergo Testing and Genome Sequencing: Odisha Govt

Bhubaneswar: In view of the outbreak of the new Covid variant Omicron, the Odisha Government has issued fresh guidelines for the passengers arriving in the State.

All travellers coming from international destinations will have to undergo testing and genome sequencing.

They will undergo quarantine mandatory. An international quarantine control system will be set up for the foreigners, as per the guidelines.
Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra has reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the State with Collectors, Superintendents of Police, and CDM & PHOs of all districts.

He asked the officials to take all necessary measures to contain any further spread of coronavirus and check the outbreak of third wave in the State.
Mohapatra has stressed on stringent examination of foreign travellers to check the virus from entering the state. Special attention will be given to passengers at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, he added.

As schools and colleges have reopened, economic activities have increased after the lifting of COVID lockdown and all programmes related to implementation of livelihood have resumed, the district administrations should expedite vaccinations through house-to-house campaigns.

The district administrations have been directed to engage the government machineries, right from the Ward level to collect information on COVID case and report the status to government, the Chief Secretary emphasized.
