42 Nizamuddin Returnees Register Voluntarily After CM Appeal

Bhubaneswar: Even as the cases related to Nizamuddin are on the rise across the country, as many as 42 more attendees of Tablighi Jamaat, who had returned to the State after attending the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi, have voluntarily registered themselves following Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s appeal.

Addressing the scheduled press briefing Odisha Government’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi said, before Chief Minister’s appeal, the State government had information on only 28 Tablighi Jamaat returnees. However, 42 more came forward to register their names voluntarily after CM’s appeal.

The Chief Minister has also thanked these persons and their family members on this account,” Bagchi told.

He further appealed if any Tablighi Jamaat attendees are still in the closet because of fear, apprehension or stigma to come forward and register with 104 helpline.

He said if any of them is a suspect for COVID-19, the government will make all arrangements for them and if they are infected the State government will take up their treatment free of cost, he added.
