8th Round of Talks between Centre and Farmers Unions Fails to Resolve Deadlock, Next Round of Dialogue on Jan 15

New Delhi: The 8th round of talks between the Centre and the representatives of 41 Farmers’ Unions at Vigyan Bhawan here today ended without resolving the deadlock over three new agricultural reform laws.

The Farmers’ Unions have asked for a repeal of the controversial farm laws, the government again suggested amendments.

In spite of lengthy discussions no solution emerged, therefore it was decided that the next round of talks will take place on January 15, according to official sources.

Union Minister for Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Railways, Commerce and Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal and Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash participated in the 8th round of talks with the representatives of Farmers’ Unions.

Once again they appealed to the Farmers’ Unions for point-wise discussion of suggested amendments to the Farm Laws.
