Fighting COVID-19: Ganjam Admin to Launch Massive Drive, 40 Lakh People to Be Screened
Berhampur: In a major step to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the Ganjam district administration has decided to do health checkup of each and every household in the district.
Amid the increasing positive cases in the State, the administration will undertake a massive exercise to screen around 40 lakh people in the district as part of the preventive measures to tackle the deadly virus, said Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange after chairing a high level review meeting with the officials through video conferencing.
As per the plan, the teams of district administration will make door-to-door survey and gather data regarding corona symptoms of the people.
The teams consisting of health professional, Anganwadi worker, and teacher will visit every household and check whether anybody develops any kind of symptoms like fever, cold, cough etc similar to COVID-19.
The suspected cases will be put under strict quarantine immediately, sources added.
This gigantic exercise will be kicked off from tomorrow and is likely to be covered within 3-4 days, sources.
The decision assumes greater significance at this stage as the district witnessed return of thousands of migrant workers before the lockdown.
