Elected Representatives on Core of Affairs: Naveen Accords Warrior Status to Sarpanches, Announces Rs 50 Lakh Compensation in Case of Death Due to COVID-19
Bhubaneswar: Putting elected representatives on core of affairs in the Odisha’s fight against corona pandemic, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today accorded frontline COVID-19 warrior status to Sarpanches for their exceptional dedication in containing the coronavirus.
The Chief Minister also announced a financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to families of Sarpanches who lose their lives in the line of COVID-19 duty.
ତୃଣମୂଳସ୍ତରରେ କରୋନା ମୁକାବିଲା ପାଇଁ ସରପଞ୍ଚମାନେ ଟିଏମସି, ସଙ୍ଗରୋଧ କେନ୍ଦ୍ର ଓ ଅନ୍ୟ କୋଭିଡ ସୁବିଧାଗୁଡ଼ିକର ସୁପରିଚାଳନାରେ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗୀକୃତ ଭାବେ ମହତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରୁଛନ୍ତି। ସେମାନେ ଆମ ଆଗ ଧାଡ଼ିର ଯୋଦ୍ଧା। ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପରିବାରର ହିତ ପାଇଁ ପୂର୍ବ ଘୋଷିତ ₹୫୦ ଲକ୍ଷ ସହାୟତା ରାଶିରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଭୁକ୍ତ କରାଯାଇଛି।

In a first in the country, the CM provided the District Collector’s power to Sarpanches in their respective jurisdiction to fight COVID-19 pandemic.
Naveen said extraordinary situations call for extraordinary solutions.
He said empowering panchayats and urban local bodies will facilitate tracking and monitoring of migrant workers who have returned from other states.
Earlier, the Odisha Government announced that healthcare workers and support staff in the State who died while fighting COVID-19 would be considered ‘martyrs’ and be accorded a state funeral as well as Rs 50 lakh ex gratia compensation for their families.
