Naveen Reviews Cyclone Amphan Preparedness with Collectors

Fully Ready to Face the Calamity; No Need to Panic: CM

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said that the State is fully prepared to face the cyclone Amphan and urged the people not to panic. 

Reviewing the cyclone situation with 12 district collectors through video conferencing, the Chief Minister asked the officials to maintain zero casualty approach.

The CM has exhorted all district administration officials to maintain zero-casualty approach in cyclone preparedness while simultaneously focusing on the COVID-19 management.

Naveen has called upon the Collectors to be prepared to face the double challenges of Cyclone and Covid-19.

There should be minimal damage to life and property. The government buildings can be identified and made cyclone shelters, he said.

The CM also appealed the people not panic and extend full cooperation to the administration to handle the situation.

According to the Met department, a depression in the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours and has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea till May 20.

The depression in the Bay of Bengal is now 1,040 km south of Odisha’s Paradip coast, it predicted.
