Patna: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar announced on Tuesday its seat-sharing formula for the Assembly elections under which Janata Dal (United) will contest on 122 seats and the BJP on 121 out of a total of 243 seats.
“JDU has been allotted 122 seats. Under that quota, we are giving seven seats to Hindustan Awam Moarch (HAM). BJP has 121 seats. Talks are underway, BJP will allot seats to Vikassheel Insaan Party under their quota,” JDU Chief Nitish Kumar told reporters here at a press conference.
Earlier today, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) met at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Patna. Devendra Fadnavis, Sushil Modi, Sanjay Jaiswal, and Bhupendra Yadav were present at the meeting.
This comes a day after LJP, which announced its exit from the alliance for the state polls, claimed that the next Bihar government would be a “BJP-LJP government”.
Responding to a query about post-poll scenario, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, said, “We have said unequivocally that Nitish Kumar will be our Chief Minister. It does not matter which party gets how many seats in the elections.”
In the 2015 assembly polls, JD-U, RJD, and Congress had fought the elections together under the Mahagathbandhan banner. On the other hand, the BJP-led NDA had fought the elections with Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and other allies.
