Commissionerate Police to Use Drones to Keep Vigil on Traffic Violators in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to expedite the 5T policy of the Government, the Commissionerate of Police has decided to use drone cameras  to keep a strict vigil on violation of traffic rules like overtaking and zigzag driving on this major route in the capital city.

Speaking to media,  Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said,   the stretch from Rabindra Mandap to Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) has been made ‘no overtaking zone’. Overtaking has been a matter of major concern for us.
Now-a-days people carrying two-wheeler or four-wheeler are seen indulged in overtaking. It is not possible to deploy police personnel to check overtaking,” said Sarangi.
He said the ‘no-overtaking zone’ rule will be implemented between the Rabindra Mandap and Airport stretch on the Sachivalaya Marg on a pilot basis and later replicated in other areas of the Smart City.

Sagarika Nath, an IPS officer has been appointed as the Traffic DCP recently in a bid to streamline the traffic issues in Bhubaneswar.
