COVID-19: Section 144 Imposed in Five Villages in Ganjam
Berhampur: In a bid to prevent spread of second wave of COVID-19, restrictions under Section 144 have been imposed in five villages under Aska police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The local administration has issued prohibitory orders in five villages situated near river Rushikulya in view of Maha Baruni Snana on April 9 to restrict gathering of devotees.
The villages are Padhala, Raghunathpur, Pudukeswarpali, Kalasandhapur and Borigaon.
This has been informed by Aska Police IIC Prasant Kumar Sahu.
Every year, a large number of devotees take a holy dip at at the confluence of rivers Rushikulya and Badanadi near Aska to observe Maha Baruni Snana.
In view of prevailing pandemic situation, Section 144 has been imposed in the five villages situated near the holy river to restrict gathering of people, he added.
