Berhampur: With an aim to provide dedicated healthcare services to the COVID-19 patients, a standalone COVID hospital has been opened in Ganjam District.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has dedicated the 200-beded COVID-19 Hospital to the people on Friday.
The Chief Minister has also lauded the efforts of the Ganjam administration for readying the hospital in record time.
The hospital managed by TATA Steel- Medica and funded by TATA Steel will operate as DCH (Dedicated covid hospital) as well as DCHC (Dedicated COVID Health Centre).
The facility will be manned by doctors, staff nurse, technicians from MKCG, Ganjam and other support staff from CDM & PHO, Ganjam, informed Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange in a statement.
As per COVID guidelines, the facility has 15 ICU beds (with ventilators) and will be enhanced by another 5 ICU beds in 10 days. It has separate isolation ward and general COVID ward.
Dr Umashankar Mishra (Prof. MKCG) is designated as the Authorized Medical Officer for this COVID hospital.
Accommodation for all doctors and support staff has been arranged within the campus.
TATA-Medica staff will ensure the smooth functioning of the hospital. All COVID related guidelines will be scrupulously followed, according to a statement issued by the district administration.
